Geddes Consulting, in a multi-disciplinary capacity, has been working with Thomson Homes to deliver a planned expansion to Powmill. A key focus for this activity has been to secure the support of the community through ongoing engagement which reflects best practice.
Geddes Consulting has coordinated a number of community engagements presenting proposals to the residents of Powmill about the future growth of the village in line with PAN 3/2010 - Community Engagement.
Prior to a detailed submission to the Main Issues Report (MIR) of the Perth and Kinross Local Development Plan, a community engagement event took place at the beginning of October 2010. This was held at Moubray Hall over an afternoon and an evening session, which were well attended.
The event was designed around an interactive and facilitated workshop format, using Edward de Bono's '6 Thinking Hats' theory. This helps participants to work together to look at important decisions from a number of different perspectives.
These workshops ensured that a wide range of people were involved allowing inclusivity, ownership and an understanding of the process and next steps.
The event was well attended and feedback indicated the event was considered helpful. The exercise has been useful in obtaining feedback on the way forward and this will be used to finalise the proposals to be submitted to the MIR.
